All Electricity bills to Increase by €17 a year

All electricity customers in Ireland will see an extra €17 a year added to their annual electricity charges from October . This extra cost is because of an increase to the PSO Levy that is charged to cover the higher costs of peat and renewable energy.
The Public Service Organisation Levy is currently €27.84 a year (ex VAT) – but it is rising by 54% from October to €42.87 (ex VAT).  When VAT is added – this  is a €17.07 increase.
It’s not a massive amount – but the increase of 54% is a large one .

The PSO levy is charged to all electricity customers at a flat rate regardless of the amount of electricity they use.
