2. Rent Allowance is issued the last tuesday of every month, it is delivered in the post on the thursday. This year the 30th is the last tuesday but the thursday is the 1st of january, there will be no post, so will rent allowance be issued earlier?

   • Bank transfers are usually made early when the payment day is a bank holiday. It should be there 31st

     • We can’t guarantee what social welfare will do. If they do as planned it should be there.

Well said pal ya would think they should even bring it up for discussion and whatever party does would get vote from workers and most people on social welfare and the rest who cares they too lazy to do a bit of work so cant see them bothering to vote either im on welfare myself at the minute but have worked most my life and people never done a days work (taxpaying work) in there life get the same or sometimes more than me cos there masters at scamming every penny they can and i aint racist but the foriengers are even worse its a disgrace this country i worked in spain before and you can only claim 6 months welfare if ya worked a year and 1 year welfare if you worked 2 years and so on after that its get a job or get lost… Anyway anybody know how that Jobbridge works ? Whats the money like???..

    • You have to remember that there are many people that claim jobseekers that have worked and are now out of a job

17. Just to confirm.. I collect rent allowance every Friday at the P.O…Does this mean I get a week in advance on Friday 19th Dec? When do I get rent allowance after that?

    • Social Welfare have said that all weekly payments for the week starting Mon 22nd Dec will be paid 1 week early on the normal payment day. So your double payment will be available Fri 19th. Next one will be Fri 2nd Jan

    • They are probably just being safe and saying 24th. Check on 22nd/23rd – it shuld be there earlier than 24th going by info provided by social welfare.

    I have read all the info above but im just looking confirmation that there is definetly an advance payment
    for people that are paid in the post office on the 15th as im hearing some people say theres not as post office will be open the following monday..can someone please confirm what the story is on it..thanks

    • There will be no regular weekly payments during the week beginning Monday 22 December 2014.
      Two weeks payment will be made in teh week commencing 15th.
      Post Offices are open on 22nd – but the double payment thing seems be done to help people buy stuff in advance and not have to wait until a day or two before Christmas.

      I am also in the same position with regards the cheques.
      This wk I only got a single payment and not a double and just wondering is the double going to come next Tuesday in the post or will people be waiting until after Christmas? Deadline for dockets was the 15/12 and because we are a week behind in theory we should get it next week but this article is saying we won’t get anything next week. It’s a bit of a joke, if this is the case social should have sent out the double cheque this week along with the single cheque we were due or at least leave people know payment will be delayed.

    • Hi – as it states above – If you are paid weekly and collect paymenst from An Post you will get their normal payment and an advance payment (for the following week) during the week beginning Monday 15th December 2014

    I recieve my maternity benefit on Saturdays, I will be due a payment this Saturday the 20th and will be due my next payment on the 27th, I am paid directly into my bank account. Just wondering could you advise me on when I will recieve my benefit due on the 27th?

    • Maternity payments are normally due to be paid on Monday . You must get them a bit early. As it says in the article – Payments due on Monday 22 December 2014 will be credited to accounts on Friday 19 December 2014.

      Payments due on Monday 29 December 2014 (27th in your case) will be credited to accounts on Tuesday 23 December 2014.

32. Just wondering my illness benefit is paid into my account on Tue. Will I still get a payment on Tue 22nd I only got a single payment this week

    • According to Dept Of Social Protection – for weekly illness benefit payments made into bank accounts – you should have had a double payment this week. You should then get the payment for the 29th DEc on the 22nd Dec and then no payment in the week of the 29th.

But note that for Domiciliary Care Allowance (DCA) which is paid monthly the bonus is 25% of the weekly payment. The DCA portion of the Bonus is calculated independently of other payments. So, for example, if you are getting DCA for one child 25% of the weekly payment is €17.79. The minimum Christmas Bonus payment of €20 will therefore be paid.

        Payments are due for the 30th and as normal after that.

44. Hi, just wondering about the double payment week for people on the X’s and O’s

    Both dockets were handed in before the deadline 15/12 but I’ve a single cheque for €188 was sent out this week, when is the double cheque being sent out? A lot of people who collect their money via the post office all got their double payment this week. Is it just me who hasn’t got a double cheque or has it happened to others also?

52. The information is not accurate on this site….rent allowance which is due 29th dec will be paid 29th dec not the 23th, I went to the office and got this verified.

    Think this site needs to be more accurate with information as this can mess peoples money managament up.

I got my supposedly double week this week but I am down €200 I dunno wats goin on i got a single payment last week and it was down by €48 and when I rang they said I was means tested and that would be my new amount now this week it’s down a further 50 thats 100 a week they have taken and no one to answer my questions 🙁

I don’t think people that work in social welfare do be on here so you’s are better off asking people in post office and bank people that get paid on a Thursday will get paid wed people that get paid Monday and Tuesday can collect on Monday people that get paid in the bank get paid a day early except people that get paid on Friday everything back to normal on Friday

      THose due for collection from Tuesday 23 December 2014, may be collected as follows:

      Available on: Monday 22 December

      Available on: Tuesday 23 December

      Due Date: Monday 29 December
      Available on: Monday 29 December

    • I received rent supplement a double wk on the 19th wasn’t expecting it just a normal weekly one .. but yes it came by post ( cheque) on the Friday.
