If you were ever a customer of Virgin Media in Ireland – then you might be owed part of the €3 Million that they overcharged some customers. Around 107 thousand customers are affected – with an average amount owed of €27 each.
Earlier this year ComReg launched an investigation into the billing processes of Virgin Media.
Comreg found that since June 2014 over 264,703 Virgin Media customers were charged for services beyond their cancellation date.
Basically – some bills sent to customers during the notice period included the monthly recurring charge which went beyond the expiry of the notice period.
Virgin Media did not automatically refund customers that were charged beyond their cancellation date. Instead, they applied a credit that remained on the customers’ accounts. Customers had to contact Virgin Media to reclaim this credit. ComReg’s investigation found that over 141,000 customers were affected by this issue and some have been refunded
