Under Property Tax regulations – local Councils can adjust the annual property tax rates , up or down each year, by as much as 15% from the base rate. All the decisions for 2018 had to be made by September 30th 2017 – and these are the results of all the local authorities decisions on the Property Tax Rates in 2018 .
Councils charging more than the standard rate of LPT in 2018
Galway County 10% on top of standard rate.
Kerry – 5% extra
Longford 5% on top of standard rate
Laois – 10% extra
Limerick 7.5% extra
Tipperary – 10% extra
Waterford Co 2.5% extra
Wexford 10% on top of the standard rate.
The following councils will be charging the standard rate of LPT as set by the government in 2018:
Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork County, Cork City, Donegal,
Galway City, Kildare, Kilkenny, Leitrim,
Louth, Mayo , Meath , Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo,
Waterford City and County, Westmeath, Wicklow .
The following local authorities have decided to make the maximum 15% cut to LPT again in 2018
Dublin City Council
Dun Laoghaire + Rathdown Council
South Dublin County Council
Other Reduced Rates
A 10% cut to LPT will be made by Fingal County Council, This will mean increased charges for residents compared to the 15% cut in 2017.
