As usual, there will be some changes to Social Welfare Christmas payment dates in 2020/2021 as outlined below.
- Post Offices and Banks will close at lunchtime on Thursday 24th December and will not reopen until Wednesday 30th December 2020.
- Post Offices and Banks will also be closed on 1st January 2021.
- Post Offices will be open on Saturday 2nd January until 1 p.m.
- There will be no mail delivery or collection from December 25th to Dec 29th 2020.
Double Payment Week
Note- These dates below have now been confirmed by Social Welfare.
In the week beginning 21st December 2020 – there will be a double payment for all weekly paid recipients of welfare benefits and state pensions – as explained below.

Double Week 21st December.
People who are paid weekly will receive their normal payment plus an extra advance payment (for the following week) during the week beginning Monday 21st December 2020.
As well as being double payments – most payments will be made earlier in the week than usual. PUP payments will still be paid on Tue 22nd Dec .

Casual Jobseekers
If you claim Jobseeker’s Allowance or Benefit on a casual basis, you will need to return your dockets for the signing weeks ending 22nd/23rd December, and 29th/30th December on or before 18 December 2020.
Two payments covering the above weeks will be paid into accounts on 23rd December.
Normal payment arrangements for casual job seekers are expected to resume from Tuesday, 12th January 2021
Fuel Allowance
If you have opted for 2 lump sums – the second lump sum will be paid as usual in the second week of January 2021. More about Fuel Allowance Payments
Children’s allowance / Child benefit
Children’s allowance will be paid as normal on the first Tuesday the 5th of January 2021 .

I was Getting jobseekers Benefit Since April and then it got changed to jobseekers Allowance in end of September .. will I still be entitled to the Christmas Bonus this year ?
